ROLLTOP EASY
GOT BAG - 2023
PURPOSE : Design of a Rolltop Backpack with minimal waste and cost efficiency
After the success of their first Rolltop Backpack, GOT BAG decided to launch the Rolltop Easy version, more affordable, with a lighter material and stitched seams. The material is recycled PET coming from their clean-up program in Indonesia, and all the trims are made from recycled polyester (webbing) and recycled Polyamide (buckles).
I designed this backpack with a combination of rectangles to ensure minimum waste in the cutting and production process, to reduce cost in materials and enhance efficiency, while keeping the brand identity and smart features for daily use. I tested the concept with paper mock-up, fabric prototype and sample development with our factory partner in Vietnam.
I ensured the smooth development and cost control with the factory, including a visit over there to finalize the details and oversee the performance tests to validate the quality and durability.
Objectives were met and production increased to several colors in different factories, it is currently sold up to around 1000 units per month.
